Mood Swings

I've been switching moods very rapidly lately, and I don't know why. I'm starting to wonder if something else might be wrong with me on a deeper level.
I'll be happy one minute, but then I'll get a text, or I'll realise that I have stuff I need to get done (nothing life threatening nor particularly urgent), and I'll lose that happiness. It's not extreme, I don't go from giddy happy to a crying wreck, but I do lose that happiness and start stressing about everything, and Jake says it's starting to get frustrating because my moods are so unpredictable.

Does anyone know how I can manage this?

In women it’s hormones and stress.
Of course lifestyle plays a part – smoking tobacco, alcohol, eating fast foods, hammer the emotions. Having sugar, tea/coffee, and chocolate in excess are emotional rollercoaster foods. Refined white and artificial sugars are a major and significant cause of metabolic induced emotional highs and lows – because they hammer your pleasure centre.
Proper nutrition with plenty of vitamin D, calcium rich foods- such as sweet potato, broccoli, watercress raw, kale, chick peas, almonds, brazil nuts, hazlenuts, sesame seeds, walnuts, etc. can help level emotions.
Also, having been on a bit of a relationship high this past half year, including an array of new emotional and “exciting” sexual experiences is likely a mitigating factor. You are sexually young and the relationship is your first and despite any “new” activities you may be open to, getting “older”. According to blog entries and focus, it seems to have been a huge part of your life even though your life is full of school and work experiences.
Less fresh air and exercise than your body needs can be a significant contributing factor. Some cardio mixed with faster rate walking and swimming.
Do not go the hormone prescription pill route.
Although I’m a guy, my father, older brother and I grew up around a mom, three sisters, a great grandma, two grans, two aunts. All fairly athletically inclined – mostly v-ball, swimming, tennis and badminton (and ping-pong). Their good diet, not refined sugar and physical activity seems to do it for all of them – monthly Gaia mother visits be damned.

If you are on birth control you may wish to talk to your doctor about your prescription. Some forms of BC can seriously mess with your emotional state, and your at a young enough age that your body chemistry is still in flux and something that worked fine before may cause issues now.
